Alex Cable
Composer
Alex Cable is a multi-instrumentalist born in Shenandoah, raised in Elkton, and currently based in Norton, Virginia. Alex discovered a deep love for music at an early age, carrying around piles of CDs with their portable CD player. They inherited their mother’s taste in music, which meant a little bit of everything all of the time. At age nine, they were introduced to drums. This event sparked a new passion and Alex would play alongside whatever was on the radio. In middle school, they joined their school band and soon became absorbed in every musical ensemble available to them. By sophomore year, Alex was even instructing the percussion class in an effort to expand the program. Before graduating, they earned multiple honors & awards, including District Band, All-State Jazz Band, the "Semper Fidelis" Award for Musical Excellence, the Louis Armstrong Award, the Patrick S. Gilmore Band Award, and, of course, the Unofficial Official Fastest Single Stroke Roll Award.
Alex went on to pursue music at the collegiate level, which led them to the beautiful Wise County, Virginia area. Ultimately, they continued their education at Berklee College of Music with a focus in music production and engineering. During this time, Alex’s love of creation was fostered and elevated to a new magnitude. Their original work is a reflection of their early taste in music, a little bit of everything. In recent years, Alex has worked on a wide range of projects. They played with bands like Please Save My Earth, collaborated on genre-bending concept albums with classmates, composed an underscore and helped design sound for the University of Virginia’s College at Wise’s production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream and played drums for two theatrical productions at UVA Wise, A Thick Description of Harry Smith and UBU ROI. Today, Alex focuses on drumming for the Appalachian Doomgaze band EEK!, giving drum lessons, holding a professional role as a Media Technician, and working on their own EP.
